Drive-Thru ban

The idea of banning new drive-thru windows in Calgary is being met with mixed reaction.

The city is being urged to put a ban on any new drive-thru windows in an effort to cut back on greenhouse gas emissions.

Alderman Brian Pincott tells the Herald the idea would be a good first step at making the city more pedestrian friendly while Alderman Jim Stevenson says on the surface he doesn’t like the idea because it would interfere with how businesses operate.

Some parts of the city already have policies in place to limit the use of drive-thru’s such as Hillhurst, Sunnyside and several blocks along 16ave N.W.
